AI reputation

Google isn't dying. But it's no longer the only front door.

Customers increasingly ask AI who to use, whether a business is reputable, and what it offers. You can rank on Google and still be missing, stale, or misrepresented in the answer a customer sees first, and increasingly, they never scroll far enough to find you at all.

1. Customers are already asking AI to find businesses like yours

We do not rely on vendor forecasts. The useful evidence is measured behaviour, and it points one way.

2. Even on Google, ranking no longer guarantees the click

This is the part that catches most business owners off guard. You can be on page one and still lose the visit, because an AI summary answered the question before the customer ever reached your listing.

The UK regulator found the same pattern: six months after someone first uses ChatGPT, their Google search clicks fall by around a quarter. Ofcom, Online Nation 2025. Source

So there are two fronts. Inside Google, AI Overviews are already absorbing clicks that used to reach your website. Outside Google, nearly half of consumers now ask a standalone AI assistant like ChatGPT to recommend a business directly. SaidTrue checks that second front: what the assistants say when a customer asks about you.

3. And they trust what the AI tells them

A wrong answer would matter less if nobody believed it. They do.

Customers ask AI. The AI answer absorbs the click. And they act on what it says. If that answer about your business is wrong, missing, or points to a competitor, you lose the job and never find out why.

But Google is not dead, and we won't pretend otherwise

The honest argument is not "Google is over." It is that the path is splitting. Google still owns the volume. AI increasingly owns the recommendation: the "who should I use, are they any good, are they still trading" questions a customer asks right before they hire someone local.

For a local business that distinction is practical, not theoretical. A roofer at number seven on Google is one of several blue links a customer scrolls past. The roofer that AI names when someone asks "who's a reliable roofer in Exeter?" may be the only answer on the screen.

Why it matters for your business

The question is not whether AI has replaced Google. It has not. The question is narrower and more urgent:

When a customer asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity about your category and town, does it get a true answer about you?

Your scorecard answers those questions with the actual words the AI returned, not our opinion, the machine's.

How SaidTrue knows, and why you can check it yourself

SaidTrue asks the four AI engines that make up almost the entire market the questions customers ask before they call. We separate what the model remembers from what it says after live search. Every finding is tied to a quote, a source, an engine, and a scan date.

Your scorecard is not our opinion of your business. It is a record of what AI told a customer-style question. Read the finding, see which engine said it, and check the source yourself. That is the whole point: we do not ask you to trust us; we hand you the evidence.

The honest limits

AI is still often exploratory. Many people still verify on Google, Maps, reviews or your website before they buy. Being invisible to AI is not fatal today.

It is an early warning. If AI is becoming another front door to discovery, and every measured figure says it is, the time to learn what is written on that door is before it becomes your main door.

See the proof for yourself

The numbers above explain why this matters. Your own scorecard is the real proof: it shows exactly what AI said about your business, word for word.
