Glossary: AI Brand Mentions

Plain-English terms for understanding how SaidTrue reports on a website or business presence in AI search, including what AI systems say, what they source, and where information may be incomplete or wrong.

AI brand mention

An AI brand mention is any time an AI system names or describes your business in an answer. For SaidTrue customers, this matters because people may ask tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Claude about local businesses, services, or recommendations.

AI search

AI search is when someone uses an AI assistant or answer engine instead of only typing into a traditional search engine. SaidTrue focuses on visibility in this newer search behavior while recognizing that Google is still an important front door for customers.

AI reputation

AI reputation means the overall impression AI systems give about your business. It includes whether the answer is accurate, positive, relevant, sourced, or missing important context.

Visibility report

A visibility report shows how a business appears when AI systems answer customer-style questions. SaidTrue reports are designed to make AI answers inspectable by showing what was said and what sources were used.

Prompt

A prompt is the question or instruction given to an AI system. In this context, prompts are the kinds of questions customers might ask, such as who offers a service nearby or whether a business is reputable.

AI answer

An AI answer is the response generated by an AI system after it receives a prompt. SaidTrue looks at these answers to see how a business is described, recommended, misunderstood, or omitted.

Source

A source is a page, listing, article, or other piece of online information an AI system appears to rely on. Seeing the sources helps explain why an AI system described a business in a particular way.

Citation

A citation is a visible reference or link included with an AI answer. Not every AI system cites sources in the same way, so citations are useful but may not tell the whole story.

AI scorecard

An AI scorecard is a summarized view of how a business performed in an AI visibility scan. SaidTrue publishes scorecard-style pages that can include a grade or score to make the results easier to understand at a glance.

Monitoring

Monitoring means checking AI answers over time instead of treating one scan as the final word. SaidTrue describes monthly AI monitoring and a verified AI profile as part of helping businesses keep track of what AI systems say.

Verified AI profile

A verified AI profile is a business profile connected to the business owner or representative rather than left only to scattered third-party information. For SaidTrue, this supports the goal of making AI reputation clearer and easier to inspect.

Misread

A misread happens when an AI system gets something wrong, outdated, or misleading about a business. SaidTrue’s work is partly about surfacing these issues so a business can see what customers may be hearing from AI tools.
